GCSE Results Day Press Release 2022

26th August 2022Mrs S Field

Following two years of uncertainty and disruption to their learning, Enfield Grammar School’s Year 11 Class of 2022 celebrate their impressive results.

We are extremely proud of the achievements of all our students and these results are testament to the hard work of staff and students. As a school, we continually strive to ensure every student achieves their potential no matter what their starting point when they join us; our positive Progress 8 score demonstrates this.

73% of our boys achieved at least a Standard Pass in both English and Maths and 54% achieved at least a Strong Pass in both English and Maths. In addition, 66% of our boys achieved at least a Standard Pass in Combined Science, 74% achieved at least a Standard Pass in humanities subjects and 61% achieved at least a Standard Pass in Languages.

We look forward to welcoming a significant number of our 2022 Year 11 cohort into our Sixth Form, reaffirming the confidence they have in EGS as the place they want to be for their next step in their academic journey.

Mr Lamb, Headteacher Enfield Grammar School commented:

“I’m so proud of all our staff, boys, parents and carers. The last two years were incredibly challenging and hard work and teamwork have triumphed.  Students have achieved a positive progress 8 score and they have helped EGS continue our journey of school improvement which fills me with immense pride indeed. A huge well done to us all!”

A-Level Results Day Press Release 2022

19th August 2022Mrs S Field

A-Level Results Day Press Release 2022

Enfield Grammar School A-Level students enjoyed another year of strong results in their sixth form programmes.

In addition to maintaining a strong value added score for another year (meaning that students who attend Enfield Grammar School make better progress than they would at other schools), we have increased our percentage of A-A* grades with 28%  of all grades achieving this level. We also saw improvements in other grades areas, including; 52% of grades were graded A*-B and 76% of grades were calculated at A*-C.  Students achieved an average point score of 35.26 for A-Level students with an average grade B across the cohort – this means that EGS students have the opportunity to study at the best universities across the country. Applied General qualifications were equally successful at Enfield Grammar School with an impressive average point score of 43.74 with an average grade of Merit.

24 students achieved an average A grade or better across all of their courses at Enfield Grammar School with many of our students gaining places at top universities and on higher apprenticeship schemes. 12 students achieved an individual value added score above plus one, which means that on average, they achieved a grade higher than expected in each of their subjects – this is especially impressive with nationally  inflated GCSE CAGs.

All students have the option to enter their preferred route of career or further study. This ranges from University (85%), to Apprenticeships (7%) to scholarships (1%) and the ‘World of work’!

We are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students, despite all the uncertainty over the last few years. We continually strive to ensure each boy is able to give ‘As much as he can’ no matter what his starting point when he joins us; this mantra  has served our students well. We wish all our students well as they strive forward in this ever-changing world and ask them to stay in touch to help those who follow them in the coming years.

Mr Lamb, Headteacher Enfield Grammar School commented:

“It has been a pleasure working with our Year 13 students and seeing so many of them excel during their time at Enfield Grammar School; we have had the pleasure of seeing them develop from Boys to Men. I am especially proud of our strong relationships and would like to thank all the staff for their commitment in supporting students and their families. It is great to see so many of our young men securing fantastic opportunities next year, not just at universities, but also with employers to follow degree apprenticeship programmes. We congratulate them and wish them every success as they move on. I look forward to seeing many of the class of 2022 at Old Boys’ events in the future”

This is run as an independent school and school staff are not present. Julius will be running gym sessions for students over the summer holidays. See below for more information and contact details….

Music Tour 2022

20th July 2022Mrs S Field
Music Tour To Normandy
As the last tour for Ms Penfold and myself (Mr Ness), and after some delay, it was great to get the original music team back together for one last concert tour; Mr Ness, Mr Monk, Mr Escott, Mr Tate-Lovery, Ms Penfold.

The students were impeccable from beginning to end and played their hearts out to the people of France. The French responded by giving us every ounce of energy back – although we wish we could bottle the energy and use it now as we are all shattered!

Thank you to the wonderful students that attended this tour and all the many tours prior. As you will find, long after the last note has rung out and the equipment is packed away leaving a bare stage, the resonance of the memory of these amazing tours will continue to bring joy for the rest of our lives.

I am so pleased that Mr Escott will be in charge of the music department next year as this will keep the long traditions of the department alive and flourishing.

From Ms Penfold and myself though, it’s bon voyage et merci pour la musique et les souvenirs. 🎵

⚽ 5 Games. 5 Finals. 5 Wins. 5 Borough Cups!🏆
🔥 EGS on fire!

Our Y10 football team made it four Borough Cup wins for the school last week with an incredible come‑from‑behind 4–1 victory!
And they didn’t have long to wait for company…
Yesterday, our Y7s delivered a brilliant performance of their own, winning their cup final 4–2!

That means 5 out of 5 Borough Cups this year — a clean sweep!

Huge congratulations to all the boys who represented the school so brilliantly, and a massive thank‑you to our Sports Department for their hard work and support – definitely a reflection of our school motto: As Much As I Can’!
