Happy Monday Everyone!
One week into the new school term and we are all settled in to our new timetables. To add to the student’s day, the following clubs/activities are now available to join, starting from this week.

– Mr Hurley’s Lunchtime Computer Club – perfect to get ahead on your homework, do some research or just relax
– Marvel TV Club – watch Marvel episodes; create your own comics
– The Library – access for reading, homework, research; quiet space
– Book & Bagel Breakfast Club – free breakfast, quiet space
– Band rehearsals (w/c 19th Sept)
– Instrumental Lessons
– EGS Voices (choir) – Y7&8
– Badminton Club – Lunchtime Years 7&8
– Rugby Club
– Football Club – Y7&8
– Squad Foot ball Training (once the squads have been selected)
– Table Tennis Club – for PE GCSE students only
– Homework Club / Home Learning Club – Lunchtime Y7&8 only Lower C2

Y10 DofE Expedition – their expedition journey…a success!

This was the final section of the DofE Bronze Award that our Year 10s have been participating in since last October.

Several months of volunteering, learning a new skill and taking on a physical activity, combined with preparation sessions in school on navigating, map reading, first aid, outdoor cooking, how to pack a rucksack and 3 practice hikes all led to the final challenge of the expedition.

We are delighted to say that all our boys passed this section!

Having not run the DofE programme in EGS for several years, it has been wonderful to get it up and running again, giving our boys the opportunity of challenging themselves, learning to work as a team and getting a huge sense of achievement.

Elevate Education are inviting all our parents/carers of Years 10 through to 13 to an online webinar on:  “How to Help Your Child’s Memory”

 Elevate Education is a company we as a school have used for a number of years to help run our Year 11 GCSE exam preparation seminars and they have been extremely successful and popular with both our staff and pupils.

 In this webinar, Elevate will go through the following:

 •           How they can set up their child’s study space to maximise attention;

•           The best techniques for improving memory;

•           The 7 most common mistakes which actually reduce memory retention.
