Our Year 10 historians have been involved in Black History Workshops discovering the beauty of black ancient civilizations.
Did you know that there were over 15 different Ancient Black African Civilisations dating back 17, 000 years? The oldest: the Zingh Empire 15000 BCE.
I wonder how many others you can think of?

It is International Plastic Free Bag Day today!
This is a global initiative that aims to eliminate the use of single-use plastic bags in the world and makes us consider our impact on the environment, particularly our use of plastics and the negative effect it has on our world
If you go shopping, consider what bag you will use to bring it home in!

EGS swings to the sound of jazz….
A great visit from the Dave Storey Trio last Friday who played to, and took questions from, some of our students.
Watch the slideshow below (click the image) – there’s a little musical treat at the end 🙂

#FavouriteBookFriday:
Director of Sport, Mr Kendrick has chosen ‘Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong by David Walsh’.
The definitive account of the author’s twelve-year quest to uncover and make known the truth about Lance Armstrong’s long history of performance-enhancing drug use, which ultimately led to the cyclist’s being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles.
“I wanted to tell him that the problems of the more recent past were in part down to journalists being too gullible. And to remind him of the role journalists and newspapers had played in the creation of the Tour de France… Journalists are sentimental creatures and the success of the Tour is built on emotion and memory.”
Well done to all of the Y12 students who completed Peer Mentoring Training as part of our Annual Progression Week; looking forward to seeing the positive impact you will have on younger students.
