Friday night saw another sensational Christmas concert from the EGS boys. Carols were sung, bells were rung and festive feelings were spread throughout the hall.
The new Year 7 band made their debut as well as the Orchestra and the Steel pans also making their maiden appearance, showing a more diverse and exciting sound from the Music department.
A great night of Yuletide tunes was topped with HSBC promising to match our raffle money… a lovely Christmas present for us 🙂
Altogether, a fun and festive way to end the term!
Last Thursday, a group of our students went busking in Enfield Town. It was a fantastic afternoon and a great experience for the boys to play music to the general public from the market bandstand. They spread some Christmas cheer and raised over £120 for the North London Hospice. Thank you to all who popped by and donated. 🙏

EGS Choir performed at the Enfield Music Service Choir Festival this week.
They performed two songs they’ve been rehearsing and then sung alongside four other primary and secondary Enfield schools as part of one huge choir!
The boys did fantastically and we’re very much looking forward to the next one.
Only one month till we hold our first music concert of this academic year!
Don’t forget to put all these dates in your diary 🙂
James Lovell in Year 10 recently attended a composition masterclass at the Royal Academy of Music. He was asked to create a graphic score for his own composition which was then developed and performed by professional musicians from the Academy.
Here is his graphic score and some of the audio of his final piece…..
Well done, James, this is fantastic!
Music GCSE and Music Tec A level students attended a concert of African Music yesterday at Forty Hall and had a go on the djembes!
A wonderful afternoon learning about traditions in African music and how these traditions have developed with 21st century classical music.
Thank you to all the wonderful families we saw last week at our Open-Evening.
There was a really positive buzz in the air and we look forward to welcoming some of you next year!
Thank you also to all our staff who all put such a fantastic effort into showcasing their departments.
