#StudentSpotlights: Year 7 Footballers

Recently, a group of our Year 7 students, Harry W, Zachary M, Ben G, Pablo & Matteo R, and Harry M had the fantastic experience of playing football in Naples, Italy.
These boys all play in our EGS football team (luckily for us!), but are also in the U12s team for Enfield Town FC.
Playing for Enfield Town, they took part in the football tournament in Italy, playing against other great teams over 4 days. Winning every game they played, they returned to the UK with the winners cup!! Champions!
Congratulations boys, and may you continue to play such great football!
 

Sports Scholars Visit The Home of Cricket: Lords

Our sport scholars from years 7-9 had the opportunity to watch some professional county cricket (Middx v Somerset) at Lords and play some fun games with Middlesex cricket coaches.

They practised their fielding and batting skills in the nursery pavilion and they engaged wonderfully with the cricket activities.

All of our boys represented themselves and the school excellently. Their behaviour throughout the day was fantastic.

A group of our boys even managed to complete the very difficult treasure hunt around Lord’s and won a signed Middlesex shirt!

Year 7 Music Assembly

Last week’s Year 7 music assembly was a hit, with one of our fantastic Year 7 drummers performing as well as an incredible saxophone demonstration featuring a live jazz trio made up of our music teachers, Mr Escott (bass), Dave Storey (drums) and Tom Barford (Sax)!

There’s nothing like a bit of jazz in the afternoon to send you home relaxed!

After its huge success last year, the Year 5 Half-Term Summer Camp is back!

We are inviting Year 5 boys from local Enfield primary schools to Enfield Grammar to participate in a day of fun activities with some of our fantastic staff.

The camp will take place at our Lower School site on Tuesday 30 & Wednesday 31 May.

Enfield Grammar School would like to wish

King Charles III and Queen Camilla

all the best on their Coronation.

Whether you agree or not with the monarchy, it will be an amazing historical event followed by people all around the world. It is aimed to be a community event; street parties, lunches & teas, concerts, family themed days and more, for people to mark the occasion by celebrating with their families, friends and neighbours. Monday has a spotlight on volunteering, for people to get involved and help out on various projects within your local areas.

Whatever you will be doing, we wish everyone a lovely and safe bank holiday weekend.

Our catering staff ensured everyone got a little ‘taste’ of the coronation at lunchtime with some sweet treats!

The Coronation

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort is a time for celebration across the nation and Commonwealth, over a weekend of special events:

  • Saturday 6 May: the Coronation Ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London.
  • 6-8 May: Coronation Big Lunches will be held up and down the country and across the Commonwealth.
  • Sunday 7 May: a spectacular Coronation Concert will be performed at Windsor Castle, with iconic locations across the UK lit up using projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations.
  • Monday 8 May: a special Bank Holiday in honour of the Coronation, giving everyone the opportunity to join in and celebrate a national day of volunteering through Big Help Out activities.

A10 SkatePark Rejuvenated by Shay Press & EGS Students!

Former EGS student and local artist, Shay Press, collaborated with our Year 8 and Year 9 Art students last week, at the A10 Skate Park, Edmonton.

Commissioned by the Enfield Council Art Team, the pupils had the opportunity to gain Knowledge and experience in producing a creative, vibrant, graffiti style community mural.

They had the task of rejuvenating the skatepark from being described as dull and grey and they successfully injected (or sprayed in this case!) some colour and life into the area. Even Mr Purrier couldn’t resist picking up a spray can!

Well done to all our students who took part, they really seemed to have enjoyed the day, and a big thank you to Shay Press for his time and guidance 🙂
