BHM: ‘History of Black Music’ Dugdale Trip

21st October 2024Mrs S Field

On Friday we took Music Scholars, Music GCSE BTEC and A Level students, as well as members of our newly formed Student Leadership Team to the Dugdale Centre to watch a talk called “Dropping Knowledge”.

Award winning DJ and producer, DJ Mark Anthony took us through the history of black music as part of our ongoing celebrations for Black History Month. We learnt about and listened to an array of inspiring black musicians and explored their significance in music history.

The students were fantastic and we even had a couple of them get up to demonstrate their best Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance. We very much look forward to Part 2 of the talk.

What A Fabulous Open-Evening!

8th October 2024Mrs S Field

It was fantastic to have so many families visit us on our prospective Parents Open-Evening yesterday. Both sites were buzzing with fun activities, questions and answers and lots of clear reasons given about why Enfield Grammar School is the best place for boys to come and get an all-round quality education and have lots of fun along the way.

We want our boys to remember their school days fondly, and remember the staff that work in the school as adults that know them and care for them. Every conversation is an intervention; every correction follows a connection and every boy is allowed to be themselves.

We’ve got lots of families visiting us over the next few weeks to see us in action, as choosing a school is an important decision and Open-Evenings are just a glimpse of what a school is really like.

If you couldn’t make the evening and would like a tour with your Year 5 or Year 6 son then please contact the Headteacher, Mr Lamb, at [email protected].

Come and see what we’ve got to offer; we think you’ll be impressed.

We’ve put together a few images of before and during the evening and must give a special mention to:

  • our wonderful piano player, Felix
  • our guitar busker, Charlie
  • our Duke of Edinburgh students supervising the marshmallow toasting
  • the superb speeches by Kyan and Heath
  • the student-led band, Space Goose, jamming all evening at Lower
  • our student tour guides
  • our student traffic controllers
  • student helpers in each department
  • and lastly, but not at all least, to all our dedicated staff

⚽ 5 Games. 5 Finals. 5 Wins. 5 Borough Cups!🏆
🔥 EGS on fire!

Our Y10 football team made it four Borough Cup wins for the school last week with an incredible come‑from‑behind 4–1 victory!
And they didn’t have long to wait for company…
Yesterday, our Y7s delivered a brilliant performance of their own, winning their cup final 4–2!

That means 5 out of 5 Borough Cups this year — a clean sweep!

Huge congratulations to all the boys who represented the school so brilliantly, and a massive thank‑you to our Sports Department for their hard work and support – definitely a reflection of our school motto: As Much As I Can’!
