Just prior to the half-term, our Year 11 Duke of Edinburgh boys who are completing their Silver Award went off to the Peak District for their qualifying expedition.
A challenge taken in their stride (literally!) ….. great experiences, great camaraderie, great teamwork, great scenery …. all in all, a ‘great’ success!
This time they stayed in YHA accommodation to introduce them to a budget and self-sufficient means of being able to visit destinations without costing a fortune.
The DofE is an inclusive award programme delivered to young people: “A chance to discover new interests and talents. A tool to develop essential skills for life and work. A recognised mark of achievement, respected by employers. The hope is that they have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem, and build confidence”

It’s that time of year again and the music department have started their rehearsals for our annual Christmas Concert. Tickets can be purchased via ParentPay or contact Mrs Watson in the Lower School office.

Please note: the entrance road off the high street by the Nationwide building society is closed to vehicles and therefore the only access to the school is via Little Park Gardens between Trinity Church and the Bus Station.
Research by the National Literacy Trust showed that poetry significantly benefits the lives of children and young people; ‘where a quiet voice can become a loud voice’, and this was so true in our Poetry Slam this year, where some of our pupils, who were initially nervous to perform in front of others, ended up performing more than one poem!
Marking National Poetry Day just before the half-term break, Mrs Rudolph held our annual ‘open mic’ Poetry Slam in both Lower and Upper schools making it accessible for all students. By all accounts it was an extremely fun event with all boys receiving merits, a sweet treat and a certificate to acknowledge their participation.

The library has helpful books covering a whole range of worries that teenagers may have. The books include positive strategies for healthy minds and bodies, and will give you reassurance that you are not alone. The books will be on display (they can be borrowed) in the library. If you are not sure, please speak to Mrs Rudolph, Library Manager.
