Relaunch of Enfield Grammar School PTA…..can you help?

4th March 2024Mrs S Field

*** We invite you to join us for an AGM/Meet & Greet on Wednesday 6th March 2024 from 7pm to 8.30pm in Room 8, Upper School. Drinks and nibbles will be provided.***

This will be an opportunity to meet each other and form a new school PTA committee of volunteers willing to continue organising valuable fundraising events.

We’d like to thank those of you who have come on board this academic year to help serve refreshments and snacks at the music concerts and hope you enjoyed it.

During the meeting we would like to elect a new committee consisting of: Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and maybe even some ‘Vice’ positions for each of those, as well as compiling a list of volunteers to support the committee.

This will be the relaunch of FEGS, and as such, open to all ideas of when the meetings should be, where they are held and what events could be organised.

Those of you who have already been part of a school PTA will know how rewarding it can be, however no experience is required, just an interest in helping the school with your passion and ideas!

If you are interested to help form and shape the new FEGS and/or join the team of supporters, then please come along to the meeting.

It would be ideal if we could have an idea of numbers attending so please either click and complete this link Meeting Attendance Form or email [email protected] to advise.

Everyone is welcome!

We look forward to meeting you.

‘Old Boys’ (Alumni) Event

21st December 2023Mrs S Field

Monday night saw the first of what hopefully will become an annual event, the Christmas Jingle & Mingle for our ex-students. It was lovely to see ‘old boys’ spanning over many years and interesting to hear old stories about the school and what they are all doing now. We had some f our current sixth formers on hand who took them on tours of the school.

Thank you to all of those who came along, especially it being a Monday night!

Enfield Grammar School (that has been part of Enfield for a very long time!) is relaunching their ‘Old Boys Association’ (Alumni) with a Jingle & Mingle event and would love to have as many generations as possible represented. The OBA has been going for over 100 years and we would like to see it going on for another 100!

The invite was extended to all of our ex-students, from those who are currently at university through to those who may have ‘more distant memories'(!) of their school days, including past employees (support and teaching staff).
The Old Boys Association has dwindled over the last few years and EGS decided it was time to step up and try to rejuvenate it. We, along with a couple of key ‘Old Boys’ who have kept their website going, will continue to build on the membership year on year in the hope that we can reintroduce the large annual silver service dinner and some sporting events.
If you were a member of the school and would like to be added to our database to be advised of any such future events, then please email the office for the attention of Mrs Field/Mrs Walsh. [email protected]

A Joyous Christmas Concert!

19th December 2023Mrs S Field
Friday night saw another sensational Christmas concert from the EGS boys. Carols were sung, bells were rung and festive feelings were spread throughout the hall.
The new Year 7  band made their debut as well as the Orchestra and the Steel pans also making their maiden appearance, showing a more diverse and exciting sound from the Music department.
A great night of Yuletide tunes was topped with HSBC promising to match our raffle money… a lovely Christmas present for us 🙂
Altogether, a fun and festive way to end the term!

EGS Community Annual Fundraiser Launched!

5th December 2023Mrs S Field

As we navigate through challenging times, we are acutely aware of the financial hardships facing many families across the UK due to the ongoing economic crisis.

As a school community, we are committed to supporting our students and their families.
To assist families this winter we re launched our fundraising appeal last night with the aim to provide financial assistance to those who require support during these difficult times.

Each barrier or worry that we can remove for a young person improves their experience at school and helps to support their engagement and learning.

Thank you in advance for your support and, if you are able to donate, your kind donation will help make a positive difference to our students and their families.

⚽ 5 Games. 5 Finals. 5 Wins. 5 Borough Cups!🏆
🔥 EGS on fire!

Our Y10 football team made it four Borough Cup wins for the school last week with an incredible come‑from‑behind 4–1 victory!
And they didn’t have long to wait for company…
Yesterday, our Y7s delivered a brilliant performance of their own, winning their cup final 4–2!

That means 5 out of 5 Borough Cups this year — a clean sweep!

Huge congratulations to all the boys who represented the school so brilliantly, and a massive thank‑you to our Sports Department for their hard work and support – definitely a reflection of our school motto: As Much As I Can’!
