A Boy who is valued is a Man who is confident

13th October 2021Mrs S Field
At Enfield Grammar School we believe that knowing our students is key to their success with us; they need to feel seen and heard and not simply managed and taught.
We pride ourselves on our strong community ethos and the positive relationships that are present between our students and staff, based on mutual respect and patience.
Our dedicated staff work collaboratively to provide a supportive learning environment in which our students flourish.

Leon Mckenzie Visit

12th October 2021Mrs S Field

We were truly honoured to have Leon Mckenzie, ex-professional footballer and boxer, visit our school today and speak to our boys.

He has excelled at two sports at the highest level and now he shares his story about his mental health history and how he tries to overcome it a day at a time.

Leon delivered the message that it’s ok not to be ok. That mental health affects us all at some point(s) in our lives.

That we can all work hard to be “good” men; that good men talk, cry, share, help, empathise and to be kind.

#StudentSpotlight

8th October 2021Mrs S Field
Celebrating Our Students
To finish the week we’d like to spotlight the fantastic achievement of one of our Year 10 boys, Freddie. He is a sporting force to be reckoned with and one to look out for in the future!

Not only playing in our EGS football and cricket teams but, having played cricket for the Borough in the past, he has just qualified to play for Middlesex for a second season next year due to his successful performance this year!

As if that wasn’t fab enough, during the end of season event night at his own cricket club, Holtwhites Trinibus Cricket Club (HTCC) Freddie was presented with a mountain of awards;
– Colts U15 batsman of the year
– U17 batsman of the year
– U17 bowler of the year
– Adults Top bowler of the year
– Young player of the year
– Champagne moment for a hatrick ball and a fifer in one game!

Congratulations, Freddie, sounds like you deserved all of those and we wish you continued success 🙂 ⚾🏏🥇 🏆

It’s wonderful to hear such positive stories about how our students are doing out of school as well as in.

#FavouriteBookFriday – with Ms Khan..

8th October 2021Mrs S Field
#FavouriteBookFriday is with Ms Khan from our Maths Department: The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde.

Ms Khan says ‘….because no matter how often I read this book, it makes me cry every time. It’s the ultimate story of self-sacrifice and love’.

Quote from the book “Surely Love is a wonderful thing. It is more precious than emeralds and dearer than fine opals. Pearls and pomegranates cannot by it, nor is it set forth in the marketplace. It may not be purchased of the merchants, nor can it be weighed out in the balance for gold.”

⚽ 5 Games. 5 Finals. 5 Wins. 5 Borough Cups!🏆
🔥 EGS on fire!

Our Y10 football team made it four Borough Cup wins for the school last week with an incredible come‑from‑behind 4–1 victory!
And they didn’t have long to wait for company…
Yesterday, our Y7s delivered a brilliant performance of their own, winning their cup final 4–2!

That means 5 out of 5 Borough Cups this year — a clean sweep!

Huge congratulations to all the boys who represented the school so brilliantly, and a massive thank‑you to our Sports Department for their hard work and support – definitely a reflection of our school motto: As Much As I Can’!
