We are joining in with support for Safer Internet Day today, however, we are always educating our students about online safety.
Online safety is a daily concern for everyone in and out of school and we all have a part to play in protecting ourselves and each other.
Next half term, in addition to staying safe online, our pastoral team will be focusing on gambling awareness.

It is with great regret that the Key Stage 3 Concert due to take place on 25th February has been cancelled.
The Concert takes place to showcase the talents of Years 7 – 9 and especially to give all the Year 7 students the opportunity to sing together in a mass choir. Because of the Covid restrictions in place until very recently, it has not been possible to run singing rehearsals in our Year 7 classes and so preparation for this Concert could not take place. We are very sorry for the disappointment this will cause both our students and you.
However, the Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 bands will have an opportunity to perform in the Battle of the Bands which is fixed for Friday 25th March. Any students who were hoping to perform solos or duets in the Key Stage 3 Concert should come and see me with a view to performing in either the Jazz and Acoustic Evening or at the Summer Music Soiree.
If any Year 7 student would like to sing in school, they are most welcome to join our Choir which rehearses every Wednesday lunchtime in Room C1 under Miss Paula Thompson. Individual singing lessons with Miss Thompson are also available (£145 per term).
Once again, my apologies for the cancellation of this event. We are very much hoping that this will be the last event we will have to cancel because of Covid restrictions.
If you have any queries or this or any other forthcoming music event, please do not hesitate to email me or ring on the number below.
With many thanks,
Ms Cathy Penfold
Music Secretary

Our governing body includes three staff governors and we currently have two vacancies. All staff are eligible to nominate themselves, teaching and support staff (full and part-time). Staff governors are elected to serve for a four-year period.
The governing body, with the Headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. Governing bodies have three core strategic functions:
All governors have the same responsibilities; as a staff governor you would be a representative member of staff, not a staff representative.
If elected, there will be an induction as well as access to training. We will be happy to help support you and give you direction with regards to committee membership and governance training.
If you would like to stand for election, please complete the attached Personal Statement Form and return it to me by 3pm on Wednesday 9th February.
Anyone standing for election is invited to provide, with his/her nomination, a short personal statement (maximum 250 words). The statement should only include biographical information, your reasons for wanting to be a staff governor and the contribution you believe you can make to the governing body.

It is a commitment, however, it is very interesting and rewarding, and also gives you a voice on how the school is run and the chance to support and develop the school. As a governor/trustee, you will be able to:
Governors/trustees set the aims and objectives for the school or group of schools and set the policies and targets for achieving those aims and objectives. They monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making and act as a source of challenge and support to the headteacher. In action, this means:
Schools need governing boards that have a balance and diversity of knowledge, skills and experience to enable it to be effective. Ofsted (the national inspection body for schools) has repeatedly noted that the most effective schools demonstrate effective leadership and management – which includes the governing board.
