Good Luck to all our teams playing in semi-finals and finals this coming week!
St Mary Magdelene hosted a coffee & music lunchtime for the local community……our very own Groove Band went along to entertain with Mr Ness and Mr Escott – there was definitely the sound of music coming from the church!
A little sound bite…:
Had to post this wonderful picture that Alessio in Year 7 painted and brought in to show Mr Chrysanthou: ‘Landscape on Canvas’.
Thank you for sharing, Alessio.
We love to see and hear about the creativity and talent of our pupils, out of school as well as in.
Have you got something to shout out about? If so, email Mrs Field on [email protected]
We are supporting National Careers Week.
However, as a school, we continually strive to find opportunities and progression pathways for our students throughout the year by holding careers fairs, work experience, apprenticeship options and fairs, guest speakers, university visits and various trips etc.
We are lucky to have Ms Jean-Louis (careers lead) on-site to offer support and advice to our students and has planned an all day Employability Skills event for Friday.
Students- visit our library for more careers information.
Recently we had some employers come in to share their apprenticeship programmes on offer and we have our Year 10s off for 2 weeks work experience soon – looking forward to hear their feedback after a taste in the world of work!

Open to the public – the church is hosting a coffee & music lunchtime..
We always wish all our teams good luck but this week a special good luck to the teams playing Borough Cup Semi-Finals….come on EGS!
What a buzz!
There was magic wafting around, there was mystery murder going on in the library (!), there was even green eggs and ham on the lunch menu ..
The English department delivered some great WBD lessons for KS3 – we’ve have already had some Year 7s asking about “Lord of the Flies” and whether we have it in the library and there was a class debate over the Life of Pi….film versus book.
Form Tutors supported all the action by running the Form Time quiz
Ms Broadley and the Food Tech staff created more famous “Ms Broadley variety packs”
Mrs Rudolph coped rather well with a murder in her library, as well as organising student librarian competitions.
Running up to book day Mrs Rudolph was holding the Battle of the Books with years 7 & 8 – the winning book as voted b the students was: Black Brother, Black Brother by Jewell Parker Rhodes
And, last but not least……we have our special guest visitor coming in………………BREIS!!
Winners of the Short Story competition: Eren, Jio & Thishan
Winners of the Design a Book Cover competition: Walied, Ibrahim & Alex
Congratulations Boys – vouchers on their way to you!
So that’s a wrap for another year but until then……….KEEP READING!

They lost a close game to Hampton School but to be in the last 4 out of 630 schools is a truly fantastic achievement.
They had some wonderful victories along the way getting through 9 rounds of the competition and they represented the school with exceptional effort and attitude throughout.
Congratulations to Hampton School and Congratulations to our EGS Boys!
