Our Gardening Club is back up and running again this year with some enthusiastic students from nearly all year groups. It was wonderful to see so many turn up 🙂
This week we started off by putting the compost bin together, pruning a few plants, planting & watering broad beans, weeding and turning over soil near shed, re-planting lavender & rosemary – Good Job!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Finnis Scott Foundation, who generously awarded us a grant of £500 which enabled us to purchase a little shed, greenhouse, soil, seeds, tools, compost bin and a water butt. – these items have made a great difference!
Our focus is on sustainable gardening, growing herbs for our Food Tech department, creating a meadow to attract insects and pollinators and growing various other flowers and vegetables which we hope to sell in Enfield Market in July!
This enterprise is very rewarding and enriching for our students and also offers support for our DofE Award students who can opt to volunteer as a helper or join in to learn a new skill.
