All to help raise money for our school…… this is not a night to miss!

Limited tickets, first come first served!

If you have any questions, please email: [email protected]

See you there!

As you know, the quiz evening is fast approaching and we would like to make the best out of this event for our school, we would like to ask if you or your business/employer are able to help in any of these ways? …. These are great responsible business initiatives!:

 *1. RAFFLE DONATIONS*

Depending on the nature of the business, your company/employer may be willing to donate goods or services we could use as raffle prizes, which would effectively be good advertising for them. Examples could include vouchers for free treatment (manicure, facial, etc), meal for two, discount off products or services (e.g. free first consultation meeting, free assessment and estimate, etc), cash donations or products themselves. We will promote/share your kind donations our social media pages.

Please do reach out to your employer/consider whether your company could contribute and, if so, contact us ([email protected]).

 *2. MATCH FUNDING*

Match funding involves an employer/company matching the money raised by employees for the benefit of a charity. The exact terms of how this works and any caps that apply to the money matched would be set out in each company’s own policy.

Please ask your employer whether they offer match funding. You can do this by sending your employer’s HR team an email (below is a template/draft email you can adapt to use for this):

Template/draft to send your employer asking about match funding:

Dear [NAME]

I am writing to ask whether [NAME OF EMPLOYER] offer “match funding” support to staff involved in charitable activities?

The parents’ association of my [child’s/children’s] school (Friends of Enfield Grammar School is a registered charity, number 269212) organises activities to raise much needed funds for the school and I am hoping to be involved in the next event.

I know that some employers engage in match funding (matching the money raised by a member of staff, which then goes to the charity) and wanted to ask if this is something the firm/company] does?

Kind regards

FEGS

May: Mental Health Awareness Month

24th May 2024Mrs S Field
The Month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
This month there has been a display in the library for pupils shadowing the Penguin Books coverage that is all about ‘movement and the many ways it can improve your wellbeing and quality of life’. Harnessing the power of movement the display promotes the best reads and resources.
With Half-Term upon us, not only can you indulge in some reading, but you can also take the wellbeing advice to get ‘moving’; exercise, walk, play sports etc…… especially good advice for all those in the midst of exams who will be spending much time revising…..
Wishing you all a healthy half-term break.

Future Frontiers…

24th May 2024Mrs S Field

Another trip into London for some of our pupils on the Future Frontiers programme. A valuable opportunity delivered to students by the charity Future Frontiers, who offer coaching, advice and guidance to help young people realise their potential and support further education from age 16. This includes business coaching and exploring various career interests to produce a personalised action plan.

And, in addition to this, the boys get to see some of our iconic London landmarks!

A Visit to the House of Charles Dickens

22nd May 2024Mrs S Field

With the sponsorship of the Kasuma Trust and the Speakers Trust, students were given the exciting opportunity to visit the Charles Dickens Museum last week.

The museum’s education team delivered interactive and informative workshops and guided tours, which allowed the students to connect with Dickens on a personal level and deepen their understanding of the Victorian era. Among other things, the students were impressed with the realistic table settings which very clearly demonstrated the class difference that persisted during the period, and they found the idea of having a pet crow rather humorous.

Supervised by Ms. Senior, Ms. Ishaq, and Mr. McKoy,  the trip was a resounding success, with the students fully engaged in the tour and inspired by it. In fact, the students responded so well to questions asked that the museum staff commented, “They were brilliant!” at the end of the tour.

Overall, the visit was a valuable and enriching experience for the students, and one that will hopefully inspire them to explore their own creativity and imagination.

School Values – Poster Competition!

21st May 2024Mrs S Field

***Calling all creatives and thinkers!***

Enter our School Values Poster Competition and express what PRIDE means to you

The best entries will become posters around the school and used on our website and in next years planners!

Our school council students were discussing the what the school motto actually meant to them and how that sat within our EGS school community ethos. They came up with the following words that they felt encompassed everything:

  • Passion
  • Resilience
  • Integrity
  • Determination
  • Empathy

They then realised that it spelt PRIDE and so came about our new school values……completely created by the students!…Perfect!

What Makes A Winning Poster?….

  1. Creativity and Originality

Stand out with unique design elements that catch the eye and spark interest.

  1. Relevance

Clearly connect your artwork to the theme of Pride in our school values.

  1. Message Clarity

The values should be easily recognisable and understood by anyone viewing the poster.

  1. Design Quality

Use of colour, balance, typography, and overall layout to create a visually appealing poster.

Judging:

Entries will be judged on how well they meet these criteria by a panel of teachers and special guests.

Entry deadline: Friday 24th May

All entries must be emailed or hand delivered to Mr. Collins or Dr. Currie

⚽ 5 Games. 5 Finals. 5 Wins. 5 Borough Cups!🏆
🔥 EGS on fire!

Our Y10 football team made it four Borough Cup wins for the school last week with an incredible come‑from‑behind 4–1 victory!
And they didn’t have long to wait for company…
Yesterday, our Y7s delivered a brilliant performance of their own, winning their cup final 4–2!

That means 5 out of 5 Borough Cups this year — a clean sweep!

Huge congratulations to all the boys who represented the school so brilliantly, and a massive thank‑you to our Sports Department for their hard work and support – definitely a reflection of our school motto: As Much As I Can’!
