Thank you to local community choir group #RVoices who are kindly organising a collection of unwanted coats for the #Coats4Calais charity.
We managed to put together 4 large bags of coats from our FEGS (PTA) cupboard that have previously been donated by parents or were left as lost property during the last academic school year.
If you would like to know more about this charity or to give a cash or coat donation, please see their website: https://care4calais.org/coats4calais/

In support of Movember this month and International Men’s Day on Saturday (19th), Lower School are holding a ‘wear a moustache’ to school tomorrow, Friday 18th November.
Boys can come into school wearing a false moustache or buy one for charity from the LS office for 20p.
All other donations towards Movember can be put in the collection box and will be sent to the charity.
Movember
Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons.
A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides.
Movember is uniquely placed to address this crisis on a global scale. We fund ground-breaking projects all over the world, engaging men where they are to understand what works best and accelerate change.

Men’s Day raises awareness for:
– The high male suicide rate across the world
– The educational challenges that face both men and boys at all stages of life
– Men’s health, their shorter life expectancy and the fact that they suffer from workplace deaths at a much higher rate than women
– Male violence, and the fact that males are also victims to things such as rape, sexual exploitation and domestic violence
– The challenges faced by men as parents, especially as single parents or parents that do not have a good relationship with the Mother of their children. There is also focus on Fathers rights
– Male survivors of violence or abuse, including domestic abuse
– The negative portrayal of men in the media and beyond. This includes male stereotypes that are used by well-known brands in advertising campaigns
