Through the Social Enterprise Academy, Year 9 Pupils have been asked to create their own company. This involves everything from conception, creating a product or service, through to marketing and sales.
The challenge is to ensure the outcome benefits our school and/or the local community, or both!
On Thursday 13 March, pupils will have the opportunity to discuss their ideas and progress with a start-up company in preparation for the Dragon’s Den showdown in the summer term.
Here are the two ‘companies’ we’d like to introduce to you;
…from the classroom to the clothing rack….Lujo Clothing. The Lujo entrepreneurs are; Zion, Barnaby, Lewis and Shane
and
…find your flow…..Fidget Fusion. The Fidget Fusion entrepreneurs are Henry, Dhruv and Jaden.
They have done amazingly well so far having created their logo and produced their product – Good luck with the next stage!
“Where The Music Magic Happens”……Yesterday saw the sixth form music tech boys and some GCSE music students head to the Abbey Road Institute, at Angel studios, Islington. This iconic studio was host to Adele’s 21, Rush’s Power Windows, as well as albums by Courtney Pine, Sam Smith, Robbie Williams and Fela Kuti. At this site, students can take an intensive one year course in music production.
The boys were thrilled to look around the live rooms and production suites and taste the musical history of quite a magical place.

From receiving their Best British Group award and performing at the Brits on Saturday, Femi, TJ and Joe, of Ezra Collective returned to school yesterday to film a clip for BBC Newsround that was aired this morning. They spoke with our music scholars, reminisced and generously donated some musical instruments to our music department.
It is truly wonderful to see how these young boys who came to us in year 7, having worked hard to followed their dream, and have flourished into talented, kind and generous men, living the life they aspired to. Is this not testament to all the passionate, caring teachers and youth club leaders in the world?!

Ezra Collective Come Back to EGS Where It All Began……
A few weeks ago, we proudly welcomed back Femi and TJ Koleoso, members of the award winning Ezra Collective back to Enfield Grammar School where the Sunday Times photographed them in the room where their musical journey began.
The article came out this week; they talk about their childhood and the huge impact that Enfield Grammar School’s music department had by helping to guide them to where they are today. Our very own Mr. Escott deservedly gets named for his role in developing their talents and the significant contributions he made to them!
Femi:
Before secondary school, I didn’t really understand music outside a church context — things like the Brits and Glastonbury. In 2023 Ezra were the first jazz band to win the Mercury prize, and now we’re nominated for four Brits. When accolades like that come, I’m so grateful and think, thank you, Mr Escott. Thank you to all those youth clubs. All those teachers. Thank you, God. And my parents, who are always cheering us on.

This is following on from their amazing performance at Glastonbury 2023 where they wowed the crowds and created a massive buzz within the music world.
To our delight, Femi and TJ came back to school on Tuesday to film a piece for the Brit Awards 2025 where they have been nominated for 4 prizes and will, of course, be performing. The boys again enthused about how important EGS was to their growth.
The Brits are on THIS Saturday (1 March) at 8pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player – please do watch and give a cheer to our Alumni brothers and their band, Ezra Collective, an incredibly talented jazz band of this modern world.
Ezra Collective will also be performing at the Radio 6 Music Festival, March 27 www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/6musicfestival/whos-performing-2025
We’re so proud of their accomplishments; it has been an absolute pleasure and honour to have them come back to us!
