Year 12 Visit the Supreme Court

The Psychology and Sociology Year 12 students ventured into Westminster with Mrs Baldwin and Mr Harcourt this week to visit the Supreme Court; which is the highest court in the UK.
They were given a guided tour through the courts and learnt about the role of the Supreme Court and some of high profile cases that have been heard in this historical building. They even got to sit in the gallery and listen to a live court case!
After lunch, the students then walked through Parliament Square, The Mall and gave the King a wave as they went past Buckingham Palace!
It was an interesting and enjoyable day for all, and even the rain could not dampen their spirits!

The Psychology course (scientific study of the workings of the mind and how it influences  behaviour) in KS5 is a great introduction to Psychology, the specification has an extensive coverage of core topics covered in year 12 with plenty of additional topics to choose from in year 13. All topics include key approaches and help to develop evaluative and analytical research skills.

Year 9 Optical Illusions….

Year 9 have been looking at and learning about Optical Art with Mr Chrysanthou, in particular studying artists; Bridget Riley (English painter known for her optical illusion art) Victor Vasarely (Hungarian-French painter known for being a leader of the Op Art movement)

Initially, designing some small examples to practise the technique, they are now creating their interpretations.

These are a few examples of the beginning stages of some of their artwork which is looking really good – can’t wait to see some of the finished pieces..

#StudentSpotlight: Lucas McKie Year 11

Lucas has recently earned himself a scholarship at Doncaster Rover FC. The photos show him just after his induction at his signing.
Another story of student success, of a student following his passion, working hard and believing in himself.

Race To The Line 2025

The annual Year 7 Science Department challenge has once again taken place: Race To The Line 2025.

Student teams compete to design and build the fastest rocket-powered car using the same propulsion method over an 8-metre track. The winning car combines efficient aerodynamics, low mass, and durable, low-friction wheels to handle high-speed forces.

Race day was full of excitement and adrenaline and saw Riley, Mark and Mohammed come out as the winners – congratulations! They will now be off to nationals with Dr Frimpong to compete with other winners across the country – where they will once again, design a race car and compete for the crown!

#StudentSpotlight: Ben Mamen Year 11

Ben, recently named Clubman of the Year at Enfield Town FC, made a significant impact as a volunteer over the past six months. He managed the club’s social media, capturing and sharing content across various platforms which helped grow the club’s audience.

Gabriel Meytanis, Director of ETFC, says that Ben consistently dedicated 5–6 hours on matchdays and sometimes covered training sessions midweek as well as working closely with the first team. His skills in photography, editing, and graphic design have noticeably improved and he also showed strong initiative, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Having built strong relationships across the club, Ben has also inspired other volunteers. His contributions have been invaluable, and his continued involvement is highly encouraged.

His Volunteering with ETFC stemmed from him participating in the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Silver Award and has resulted in realising that he has additional talents to those he already has!
