Battle of the Bands 2022

4th April 2022Mrs S Field

The Battle of the Bands finally returned to the EGS stage on Friday, 25th March – the last Battle being fought in March 2019!

All our school bands performed brilliantly during the evening together with two student-led bands.

Awards were made for the best guitarist, drummer, bass player, singer and for featured instruments and the final winner was The Apprentice Band, who received the silver trophy at the end of the evening.

A huge thank you to Hannah Stratton who was our judge for this event, to our tutors who led the bands – Mr Tate-Lovery, Mr Escott and Mr Waters – to all our parents for supporting the bands so enthusiastically and, of course, to all the students who took part.  You made us very proud.

The next music event is the Jazz and Acoustic evening on Friday, 6th May

28th March 2022Mrs S Field

A great piece of news to start our week off with;

Alfie Knipes in Year 10 fought in the England Boxing Nationals this weekend (the semi-finals on Saturday and the final held yesterday).

Alfie won his category (for his age and weight) to become No.1 in the country.
Absolutely fantastic! He fought really well throughout the weekend and has proved that all his hard work, determination and belief has paid off.

⚽ 5 Games. 5 Finals. 5 Wins. 5 Borough Cups!🏆
🔥 EGS on fire!

Our Y10 football team made it four Borough Cup wins for the school last week with an incredible come‑from‑behind 4–1 victory!
And they didn’t have long to wait for company…
Yesterday, our Y7s delivered a brilliant performance of their own, winning their cup final 4–2!

That means 5 out of 5 Borough Cups this year — a clean sweep!

Huge congratulations to all the boys who represented the school so brilliantly, and a massive thank‑you to our Sports Department for their hard work and support – definitely a reflection of our school motto: As Much As I Can’!
