#StudentSpotlight: Edward Bareham Y10

30th September 2024Mrs S Field

This week, a shout-out goes to Edward Bareham, known to his friends as ‘Ed’!

As part of his Middlesex Training, he has to complete the YLIC (Young Leaders in Cricket) programme and for this, Ed arranged a charity cricket match with 33 players to fundraise for 3 charities. It turned out to be an amazing day, and a great end the cricket season.

The day raised over £1500 for charity (smashing his target of £60) as well as:

  • Collected donations to allow 33 children to play
  • Organised the design & printing of the team t-shirts
  • Funded reusable, environmentally friendly drinks cups as a momento for the players and the cricket club
  • Organised a BBQ to be run at the event
  • Set up a website, Go Fund Me page and an Instagram account
  • Posted the results online via Play-Cricket

All in all, Ed’s organising skills, determination and hard work resulted in a profitable and very fun day, so much so, that he wants to do it again next year but even bigger and better!

What an enormous achievement, Ed! You deserve to be very proud of yourself and we really hope you continue to create more inspiring, fun and supportive events.

Congratulations Ed!

PS… if you’re not sure what you want to do as a career just yet….event management is a fast-paced, creative and fun industry to work in!

#StudentSpotlight: Malakai Morgan Year 11

13th September 2024Mrs S Field
We end this week with a #StudentSpotlight
We love to celebrate all achievements of our students, be they in school or not. Every challenge and every achievement goes towards the education, experience, character and self-worth of an individual, and today we spotlight Malakai Morgan in Year 11.
Malakai is a member of the Swim Enfield squad and seems to be following in the footsteps (or rather, swim strokes!) of Josh Kirlew, one of our ex-students who competed in the Paris Olympic Games this summer.

Malakai performs at a high level in swimming, his main stroke being the butterfly at 50m and 100m.  Due to his achievements and times this year ……

  • Middlesex Champion in 100fly, 50m free and 50 fly
  • South East and London Regional Silver Medalist at 50 fly and bronze at 100 fly
…….he has was invited to take part in the English Championships which is only offered to the top 40 swimmers in the country.
Malakai finished 12th in the 50m and 18th in the 100m which is an amazing achievement.

His efforts have also scored him to represent Middlesex in the National County Team Championships in October.

We join his family in being incredibly proud of Malakai’s achievements and wish and support him in all his future competitions and progress within the sport.  Hopefully, we shall be spotlighting him again soon!

If your son is involved in/has achieved something that you are proud of, please let us know so we can celebrate him.

⚽ 5 Games. 5 Finals. 5 Wins. 5 Borough Cups!🏆
🔥 EGS on fire!

Our Y10 football team made it four Borough Cup wins for the school last week with an incredible come‑from‑behind 4–1 victory!
And they didn’t have long to wait for company…
Yesterday, our Y7s delivered a brilliant performance of their own, winning their cup final 4–2!

That means 5 out of 5 Borough Cups this year — a clean sweep!

Huge congratulations to all the boys who represented the school so brilliantly, and a massive thank‑you to our Sports Department for their hard work and support – definitely a reflection of our school motto: As Much As I Can’!
