World Maths Day is one of the world’s largest global educational events. Taking place on the 5th May 2021, this day aims to get primary and secondary school students excited and enthusiastic about learning maths!
At EGS we are focussing on “Alex’s Adventures in Numberland” by Alex Bellos – Exploding the myth that maths is best left to the geeks, Alex Bellos covers subjects from adding to algebra, from set theory to statistics and from logarithms to logical paradoxes. In doing so, he explains how mathematical ideas underpin just about everything in our lives

World Maths Day has grown exponentially since its beginning in 2007. In fact, it holds the world record for the most participants in an online mathematics competition with 1.9 million students taking part in a single day.
World Maths Day is such a celebrated event that it even holds a world record. This was verified and awarded by Guinness World Records. The record was for the largest maths competition which was set on World Maths Day. On March 3, 2010 there were 1,204,766 participants that took part in the celebrations. These were from 235 different countries all around the world.
