As a school community we are committed to supporting our students and their families and so we are launching a fundraising appeal to provide financial assistance to those who are experiencing serious financial hardship due to the economic crisis and the after effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Our hardship fund, which is supported by local businesses and donations, currently supports students by providing uniform vouchers, contributions to trips, school equipment and study materials.

We would like to extend the support we offer our students with additional funds for their families for household essentials such as: Food vouchers, Energy vouchers, Energy efficient household appliances.

Each barrier or worry that we can remove for a young person improves their experience at school and helps to support their engagement and learning.

Did you catch our Year 12 students and our Head on the BBC news last night?

Talking about the teachers strike and the affects of it.

Lovely to hear the boys put their points of view across.

A strong support for the rights to and the reason for striking.

Today went smoothly in school, and we thank the staff who were not striking for their support with years 11 to 13 and vulnerable students.

Alex Flint, an alumnus and third-year biomedical science student, came to speak with our sixth-formers about mental health awareness and his experiences navigating the educational system.
It is always an honour to host a former student who has the compassion to return and speak with our current boys about how his journey has gone since leaving us.
“A simple message of do not give up know matter how many times you fail, accompanied by ways to battle mental health can go a long way!”
We are looking forward to another visit soon; a talk on sexually transmitted infections!

Jack Petchey “Speak-Out Challenge”

During the Jack Petchey “Speak Out” Challenge session we offered last term, led by a Speakers Trust Trainer, students learned how to improve their public speaking, listening, deliberation, and feedback skills.
Every one of these abilities directly relates to the English GCSE curriculum, especially the aural components of the course.
Ethan and Zafer delivered their speeches in the Assembly final last week.
It was fantastic to listen to the boys and a well-deserved ‘congratulations’ goes to Ethan who has secured a place in the regional finals in February.
