Music GCSE and Music Tec A level students attended a concert of African Music yesterday at Forty Hall and had a go on the djembes!
A wonderful afternoon learning about traditions in African music and how these traditions have developed with 21st century classical music.

Black History Month 2023 is a momentous occasion to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of black people to British society. It also serves as an opportunity to inspire and empower future generations.
‘Saluting our Sisters’ – This year, Black History Month will be dedicated to honouring the contributions and achievements of black women who are often the forgotten heroines. We want to amplify their voices and challenge the systems that oppress them.
There are a range of activities that we are doing throughout October:
- BHM Subject lessons
- Art Portrait Competition
- Form Time Guess Who Activity
- New Display outside the library
- Dedicated Books by Female Authors on display in the Library
- Yr 7 & 8 Joint Assembly celebrating Black History
- Guest Speakers
- Black Classical Music Trip
- Sixth Form Question Time Panel
- Selected Caribbean/African School Dinner
- Black History Month Tutor Quiz
Below are some of the black women we are ‘saluting’ in school – more information available in the library.

Thank you to the Golf Foundation for a brilliant day at Wentworth Golf Club. The charity helps to introduce children from all backgrounds to the game of golf, making it accessible and inclusive. They believe that playing golf helps to change lives and aids wellbeing.
Our boys used Golfway equipment, took part in gold challenges, had access to the Golf Foundation’s tented village, plus had the opportunity to see professional golfers who were taking part in the BMW PGA Championship!
