One of the EGS rewards/treats awarded just before half term was ‘Tea with the Head Teacher’, although this time it had to be held remotely.
I can’t help feeling that Mr Lamb looks slightly smug that he is the one with the whole jumbo pack of Jaffa Cakes!
Congratulations to those students nominated for their outstanding behaviour who were awarded this treat.
The Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover that launched last July is due to touch down TODAY.
The culmination of the $2.7 billion Mars 2020 mission and 293 million mile journey will reach the surface this evening at around 8.43pm.
You don’t have to be ‘into’ space or technology to find this fascinating.
The link below takes you to the website where you will find everything about it; facts, images, countdown, updates, live viewing…..

The Telegraph newspaper online also has a very informative article about this.

There are some bizarre traditions in parts of the UK to commemorate the traditional meaning of Pancake Day. The village of Olney hosts a pancake race that’s been going on since 1445. One legend has it that a housewife heard the bell ringing and ran to church, still holding her frying pan with a pancake on it! Today, women race through town, wearing aprons and holding a frying pan with a pancake on it that they have to flip three times during the race….
Shrove Tuesday (known in some countries as Pancake Tuesday) is a day in February or March preceding Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent), which is celebrated in some countries by consuming pancakes.
Shrove Tuesday was the last day to use up your leftover eggs and butter before the fast started – by making delicious breakfast food, of course. And so, Pancake Day was born.
In Louisiana it is called Mardi Gras (meaning Fat Tuesday in French), this is a carnival day, and also the last day of fat eating or gorging before the fasting period of Lent.
This festival is determined by Easter. The expression Shrove Tuesday comes from the word shrive, meaning absolve. Shrove Tuesday is observed by many Christians, including Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists and Roman Catholics, who make a special point of self-examination, of considering what wrongs they need to repent, and what amendments of life or areas of spiritual growth they especially need to ask God’s help in dealing with. The beginning of Lent (fasting festival) follows with Ash Wednesday.

This video was created by Shawn Luchman (Year 9) for his Citizenship Campaign Project.
He chose to raise awareness about racism and the importance of eradicating racism, in all its ugly forms, from society. He first researched the topic, wrote a script and finally compiled this video. I think you will agree, it is a very well executed piece of work with a sincere message.
Well done Shawn.
N.B. The campaign and hashtag mentioned in this video are not real – they are used for the purpose of creating a replica of a real-life campaign
