A definition of Mental Health is – a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional wellbeing.
Characteristics of ‘good’ mental health include a person’s ability to fulfil key functions and activities INCLUDING the ability to LEARN. The ability to feel, express and manage a range of POSITIVE and NEGATIVE emotions and the ability to MAINTAIN good relationships are also key themes.
At Enfield Grammar we try and work alongside students and their family to support good mental health and wellbeing. This includes through whole school projects, classroom and form time based activities, group work, individual support and through working with external organisations.
If you want to discuss your own or someone else’s mental health or wellbeing, you can speak to any member of staff with whom you are comfortable. This may include your form tutor or Head of Year. You can also email Mrs Yianni the coordinator of wellbeing at the school.
The best approach to maintaining positive mental health is preventative. You do not have to wait until you feel situations or issues are becoming out of your control. We can prevent so many difficulties if we seek guidance and support early PREVENTING escalation.
