On Monday, Mrs Rudolph along with her work experience students from Kingsmead school and our pupil librarians created a display in the library where you can learn more about Martin Luther King MLK and his passionate fight for civil rights..

Although MLK Day is not a celebrated day here in the UK, it is important to remember those who have come before us, who stood up for what they believed in and were striving for a more harmonious world.

Martin Luther King Day, 15 January (his birthday) is a federal holiday in the United States, observed on the third Monday of January each year. It is a day to honour the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to the civil rights movement.

Martin Luther King: born 1929, assassinated in 1968.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.”

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
