Full school uniform (all items named; blazer, trousers, shirt, jumper, tie)

School shoes (no trainers / no trainer style shoes)

A bag capable of holding A4 sized books (named)

Stationary / pencil case

 

Pens – black / blue

Green pen

Scientific calculator

 

Pocket English dictionary

Collins Pocket French dictionary

 

Book covers (optional) – available from the school office

The EGS Staff Virtual Choir singing “I’m Still Standing”

Our staff as you’ve never seen them before!!!

To start the weekend off at the end of the first week of our last half term of this academic year. Mr Monk would like to present his version of the Elton John classic “I’m Still Standing”; whose title is rather apt for these times. It brings together a whole mix of staff, with varying levels of musical ability; brave enough to join in and step out of their comfort zones! Everyone enjoyed being a part of it. #whodoyourecognise

1 MILLION WORD SUMMER READING CHALLENGE!
Over the summer holidays, the literacy team challenge you to read 1,000,000 words!
Each page of a standard novel has approximately 500 words on it.
Read, mark it off on the forms, get it signed, hand in to the English teachers in September.

Where to find things to read over the summer.

Free ebook platform (Enfield Grammar / Wheelers reading platform). To access the ebook library students simply need to:

• visit https://enfieldgrammar.wheelers.co (there’s no need to put www. at the start or .uk at the end)

• sign in using your usual school computer username and password

• click on Start Browsing to browse and borrow ebooks

• Once borrowed, use the Read button to start reading the ebook

Reading through the eplatform App If you’re using an apple, android or windows tablet (or an apple or android smartphone) you can also access the ebook library via the eplatform App. The advantage of using the App is it automatically saves your ebook within the App, making it easy to retrieve and read your ebook offline.

• In your App store, simply search for ‘eplatform by Wheelers’ to find the App

• Once downloaded, search for ‘Enfield Grammar’ within the ‘Find Your Library’ link

• You can then sign in, browse and borrow ebooks as above Students can borrow one ebook at a time, which will expire automatically from the device after two weeks.

Can You Spot Your Dish?

Mrs Broadley (Teacher In Charge of Food) has been blown away by the amazing food work carried out at home by the students during lockdown.
The boys have been cooking some fantastic dishes – some based on the set tasks and others just for the sheer joy of it!
It has been wonderful to see the involvement and enjoyment of had by the boys and to hear the positive responses of their families.
Please continue to cook at home and develop your cooking skills ready for September!
Well done to all and thank you for sharing your cooking journey with me.

Year 7 & 9 students back in school!

This week we’ve seen our Year 7 & 9 students have their 1:1 meetings at lower school. Again, it’s been great to see so many students back in school …and some have really grown upwards since we last saw them!
We are all looking forward to welcoming back more each day and our Year 8’s from next week.

Our social distancing and sanitising rules are all working smoothly; one way system, marked spacing on the ground, sanitising stations, temperature being taken, 1 out / 1 in…

Kooth – free online counselling and emotional well-being support service for young people

As a school, we are encouraging and inviting EGS students to look at the Kooth tool.

Kooth is a free online counselling and emotional well-being support service for young people. It is a safe, secure and anonymous means of accessing support with their emotional health and wellbeing needs from a professional team of qualified counsellors.
Kooth has been approved by the NHS North Central London Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for all young people in Enfield.

Kooth ensures that young people have access to a range of mental health and wellbeing services at this difficult time, while also supporting schools as part of their ongoing wellbeing plans for students.

Kooth operates out of hours service weekdays from 12 -10 pm and the weekend from 6pm to 10 pm 365 days a year. Kooth is available free to Enfield Young people aged 11-18 (up to 19th birthday).

We will be introducing the service throughout the week and will be updating carers through social media posts, the schools website, through school correspondences and via literature distributed at any face-to-face work at school.
