Catching up on some past events that we didn’t cover last term……
EGS had an amazing time celebrating World Book Day this year!
It began with welcoming Breis – author, rapper and poet – to our school to run a writing workshop with some selected Year 9 students. The students really enjoyed the session and wrote some beautiful spoken word poems/raps.
On World Book Day itself, we had our annual Murder Mystery in the Upper School Library for
selected year 8 students, World Book Day themed lessons, form-time quizzes and the ‘Staff Dress-Up’ Competition. Our lovely kitchen staff provided an amazing World Book Day menu and our Art Department promoted the National Book Token Competition. The pupil librarians ran two separate competitions; one was a word search and the other was ‘Guess the Book in the Jar’.
There was a real buzz around reading – a wonderful and exciting day!
